Natures Way Foods was established in 1994 by Robert Langmead and his brother David. Tesco asked David Langmead if he could produce high quality ready-to-eat salads because his business, Langmead Farms, was - and still is - a valued supplier to Tesco of whole head lettuce. Robert suggested that with their knowledge and experience in the fresh produce business, Natures Way Foods could be set up as a sister company to Langmead Farms and serve Tesco direct.
The first four years were so successful that the business doubled in size every year. This was from a combination of increasing the supply to Tesco and beginning to supply both Morrisons and McDonalds. Natures Way Foods now delivers to every Tesco store in the UK. In 1999, the company was placed 29th in the Sunday Times Virgin Fastrack 100, making it the fastest growing food company in the UK.
The company has achieved success by ensuring sensational product quality and a commitment to 100% customer satisfaction. We have a dedicated workforce, using the highest quality raw material and processing facilities that are amongst the most technologically advanced in the world. Innovation with growers and in packaging technology has led to further opportunities to increase growth.
The ongoing commitment to exceeding customer expectations has driven a massive investment in facilities, best in class equipment and multi-functional teams. In recent years over £17 million has been invested in developing the Selsey facilities and doubling the size of the Runcton site. Achieving the Investors in People accreditation in 2002 provided external verification that the regular appraisals and the commitment to all our staff are best practice.
